Escape the stresses of modern life and relax and unwind in your own idyllic hut shaped space, surrounded by nature.
Horders’ Farm nestles into a hill at the foot of Melbury Down, overlooking the Saxon Town of Shaftesbury in the distance. The family run farm is 65 acres of rolling fields, woodland and streams, buzzards and wild deer. We are a livestock farm with animal welfare and sustainability at our core.
Both Badgers’ and Angels’ Shepherds Huts are in peaceful and private settings. Perfectly placed for beautiful views and exclusivity (one cannot be seen from the other). However if two couples or extended family wished to stay at the same time then it is a short walk to the next field and plenty of room to share a campfire at either Hut.
Angels’ Hut was designed and built by Jonathan and therefore enjoys a more contemporary and spacious interior, whilst retaining a quaint and cosy feel. It is a romantic setting for a couples getaway with a comfortable double bed to the left replete with Irish Linen and cosy woollen blankets. there is a wood burning stove -aga like, along with a sink with hot and cold running water to cook meals with
Your own private bathroom also behind the hut provides piping hot water from a gas boiler and an eco-friendly separating toilet.
The established campfire can be fuelled from the woods directly behind the hut and can be used for outside tri-pod cooking (see Extra’s for a unique Taylor made glamping experience option).
For the complete outdoor glamping experience, Angels’ has a stunning hand-crafted and designed wood-fired hot-tub. This is situated to make the most of the view whist ensuring seclusion and privacy (we cannot be responsible for peeping rabbits or sheep come to that ). Soak your stresses away whilst enjoying a glass of wine (there is a vineyard across the valley)! and relish the beauty of Hardy’s Dorset. Alternatively lie back and fall in to the stars whilst the Owls serenade you.
Badgers Hut is a more ‘period’ style Shepherds hut. Built on a base of a WWII gun carriage, Badgers has been lovingly brought back to life. From humble beginnings as accommodation for Shepherds out in the fields at Lambing time, Badgers now provides luxurious accommodation for the ultimate romantic stay and quintessentially vintage experience. There is a comfortable bed at one end framed by beautiful curtains and cushions. At the other vintage table and chairs set before a cosy wood burner. A kitchen area includes storage, a gas cooker and fridge and the all important hand-crafted wine rack to fill ! The porch is a special spot to curl up and pervades your own splendidly isolated view across the farm to the valley beyond. The campfire and upcycled farming furniture provide a perfect backdrop to a blissful night you will remember for years to come.
The bathroom is set behind the hut and has a gas-fuelled shower for guaranteed hot water and a separating loo to support all that is ecologically friendly. Locally produced toiletries are stocked in both huts and essentials such as tea, coffee, loo roll and linen and towels are all provided.
